Many of you have no doubt received the ominous message on your mobile phones today—the emergency test alert for the federal emergency broadcast system.
It’s annoying, it’s ugly, and it likely won’t do anyone a shred of good if real trouble ever manifests; remember when they told children to hide under their desks in the event of a nuclear attack?
That’s government emergency management for you.
The current FEMA tests are nothing new and would not be out of the ordinary if it weren’t for their proximity to recent Russian nuclear safety drills.
That’s right—FEMA began a test of the emergency broadcast line on October 4th—one day after the Russian nuclear safety drills commenced.

One individual pointed out the curious timing of the drills: “Russian authorities will hold large-scale nuclear war drills across the country on October 3 and meanwhile in the US, FEMA is conducting a nationwide test of the federal emergency alert system that will be broadcast at approximately 2:20 p.m. EDT on October 4.”

According to Newsweek:
Russian authorities will hold large-scale drills across the country on October 3 because of the “growing danger of armed conflicts including [with] nuclear-capable powers near Russia’s borders,” the Baza Telegram channel, which is linked to Russia’s security services, reported on Thursday, citing the head of Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, or Rospotrebnadzor.
David Knight provided a breakdown of the coinciding FEMA emergency broadcast tests and the widely reported Russian nuclear drills currently taking place.

The aforementioned individuals, pundits, and podcast hosts were far from the only ones who noticed the close timing of these two emergency measures.
